Being the new kid in town is never easy. It's especially hard when it's the final year of school and friend groups have already been long established. In order to join this one particular group of friends, you have to go through a small initiation, but something goes horribly wrong. Twenty years later, the friends are back together and they are each still suffering in their own way from the events of the past. When tragedy strikes, one member of the group will reexamine the past and the present and find some unexpected truths.

I love Lisa Scottoline. Her books always make you think and keep you on your toes. She is one of the few authors whose books I will buy without reading the description.

Her books seem to always be centered around family drama. The end of this book was a complete shock for me and that is what I love. The group starts with 4 friends when the new kid comes to town. Two boys and two girls. One of the girls takes a liking to the new boy, but another in the group is not having it. You don't know who to trust in this book and by the end you will be totally shocked!

Zuri Benitez is one of five daughters living in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. She has lived in the same house her entire life. When the Darcy's move in across the street, it's clear right from the start to Zuri, that they are from different worlds. But there is something about Darius Darcy that makes her curious. When her sister Jenay starts dating older brother, Ansley, Zuri is forced to face Darius more than she wants. Will she discover that they have more in common than she originally thought?

I was torn between several audio books to listen to when friends suggested I give this one a try. I read Pride and Prejudice when I was a freshman in high school, but I really don't remember it at all. This book grabbed me from the very beginning and I couldn't stop listening until I reached the end. I usually only listen to audio books during my work commute, but with this one, I listened at every chance I got.

Young love is something I think most of us experienced. It seems like the most important thing in your life at the time, but there is so much more in life to discover. When Zuri meets Darius Darcy, she immediately decides she doesn't like him. He is not from her world and he does not understand her or the ethics of living in Bushwick. Will they be able to find common ground, or will they forever be enemies. Their relationship takes a turn when Zuri visits Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Darius offers to drive her home instead of her taking the bus. They have four hours uninterrupted by themselves to see if they can actually be friends. They discover a lot about each other as well as themselves during this journey.

Loved this book highly recommend for everyone.

A Man Called Ove and a review by What 'Cha Readin'

Ove is a cranky old man who has recently lost his wife. He would like nothing more than to join her in the afterlife. He has made all of the arrangements, paid all of the bills, now he just has to find the best way to off himself. But when the neighbors seem to take a new interest in Ove, his plans keep getting thwarted. Will he be able to go through with his plans or will the neighbors have other plans?

I listened to this book and at first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. But slowly Ove started to grow on me. He's the kind of guy who you know is stuck in his ways and there is nothing that you can say or do that will change that. But eventually you see a change, not one that is at first noticeable, but a slight softening.

Even though Ove is ready to leave this world, his neighbors, have a different idea. It starts with Parvana and her family. When they move into the neighborhood, they need help backing their trailer up on the street in order to move in. Then Parvana needs a ride to the hospital when her husband, Patrick has fallen off a ladder. Then another resident has to go to the hospital, then another neighbor needs help with their radiator and so on and so on. My favorite part of the book is toward the end **SPOILER ALERT** when Ove himself ends up going to the hospital and when Parvana goes to see him, the doctor tells her that one of Ove's problems is that his heart is too big. That makes Parvana bust out laughing.

At the end of this book, I cried like a baby and I highly recommend this book.
