Marlee and Chris have been dating on an off since high school and have known each other even longer. Marlee was there long before Chris was a Mustang. But when a new player joins the team, it's someone Marlee recognizes from a one night stand she had while on a break with Chris. Gavin Pope is nothing like Chris at all. When Chris's secrets come to the light, Marlee has decided she is done for good. She doesn't want to date another football player, but there is something about Gavin that is drawing her in. Will they or won't they?

During this quarantine, I have really fallen in love with this series from Alexa Martin. When I was finished with the first three books, I was ready for the next one. Good thing, because a new book is coming out in October of this year. I'm so excited for it.

So far this story has been my favorite in the series. Gavin is the type of guy every girl wishes she could date, or if not have for a best guy friend on a big brother. He's just a nice guy and that's it. He doesn't expect anything else in return for his niceties. And to top it off, he's hot. He and Marlee could be perfect for each other, if she can get over the past.

If you like football, if you like romance, I suggest you get this book and the entire series right away.

Brynn is the owner of a great bar called HERS. It's a bar for women ran by women. Not only that, a few of her close friends film a lot of their reality show in her bar. They are wives of the local football team, the Mustangs. Maxwell Lewis is one of those Mustangs, but he isn't married and he rarely comes into the bar. But when he does, he seems very reserved. Even though she is attracted to him, she can't bring herself to let him know. When she breaks down on the side of the road and he's the only one who can help her, they will have to see if they can develop something.

Even though this is the third book in the series, it's the first one that I ended up reading. I wasn't sure of the order. The books don't have to be read in order though for them to be understood. This is a sports romance book. Whether or not you are a fan of football, I think that you would enjoy this story. It's more than a romance. It's also about female friendships and bonds.

This is the first book I've read or listened to by Alexa Martin. I have had these books on my TBR since they were released, but this is the first opportunity I've had to read them. For me, you couldn't help but have soft spot for Maxwell. He isn't your typical football player who is showy. He sticks to himself and is very reserved. Brynn really doesn't have him or any of the other Mustang players on her radar even though they are pleasant to look at. When he comes to her rescue, things for the both of them turn around.

Will they be able to handle a relationship, or is it doomed from the start?

Myron Bolitar is an accomplished sports agent in New York City. He doesn't have very many clients, and the ones he does have aren't very big names. His newest client, Christian Steele has been signed by the Titans this year, but trouble seems to find Christian around every turn. A year ago, his fiancee went missing and now her father has turned up dead. What is the connection of these two incidents? How can Myron help clear Christian's name and find out what happened to Cathy? With the help of Myron's best friend, Win and his ex-girlfriend Jessica, who also happens to be Cathy's sister, they will get to the bottom of this no matter what they have to do, to get to the truth.

This book is the first in the Myron Bolitar series. We are introduced to Myron and his cohorts and find out about his background. I enjoy a good series and I can't wait to find out more about these characters.

This was a book that kept my attention the whole time. There are times when listening to an audio book that the story gets lost along the way. But not for this one. I found myself wanting to listen and find out what was going to happen next. I definitely didn't see the ending coming. I can't wait to see what Book 2 in the series has in store.

Review--The One & Only by Emily Giffin

Shea Rigsby is probably the world's best authority when it comes to Walker Football. Or really football in general. It has been her favorite sport for all of her life and she can tell you every Heisman Winner from the beginning of time. But upon the death of her best friend's mother, she is forced to figure out what she wants to do with her life. Is it best to follow your heart or follow your head.

This was another great story by Emily Giffin that had my emotions all over the place. The story begins during the funeral for Connie Carr, the beloved wife of Coach Car of the Walker Broncos. Everyone in the Walker community loved Connie and she is going to be greatly missed. Shea's mom was best friends with Connie, so it's not wonder that she and Lucy are also the best of friends. After the funeral and before the start of the new football season, Shea takes a look at her life and decides it's time for a change. She dumps her boyfriend and gets a new job, but there still seems to be something missing. When a new man doesn't feel that void, Shea has an epiphany that what she is missing has been in front of her the whole time, but getting what she wants this time, is going to hurt others in the process.

Early on in the book, I could see where the story was headed. There was a twist or two that made me steer from that conclusion, but eventually, it all came to fruition. It's always hard to know whether it is better to follow your head or your heart especially when it comes to love. Will you miss out on something great if you do what is "right" or will you end up getting hurt if you go with your heart. Be ready for an emotionally charged story with this book.

Review--I Feel Like Going On by Ray Lewis

I Feel Like Going On: Life, Game, and Glory by Ray Lewis

I Feel Like Going On tells the story of Ray Lewis's life through his point of view. From his early childhood to the man he is today. I learned quite a bit about Ray Lewis that I didn't know and found very interesting. A religious and family man with seven children, he is a very different person than the man who used to be on the football field.

Growing up in Maryland, I only root for two teams, the Washington Redskins and whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys. When I was a kid, the Baltimore team had been long, so the Redskins were who I went for. I respect, Ray Lewis as an amazing defensive player in the NFL. Occasionally, I would cheer for Baltimore especially when they were in the Super Bowl. It was interesting to find out that the Redskins were Ray's favorite as well. He has a very religious side to him that you don't get to see on the field. He is also very family oriented, always there for his kids as well as his mother and brothers and sisters. There are a lot of things I learned from this book about Ray Lewis and about life in general. The best part of the book came at the end when Ray talks about what his mother taught him.

"Be an example. Be a force for good. And know that every one with a great name has been through something. A great deal of something. It's not about doing what everybody else is doing. It's just about being true to yourself whatever the majority of people are doing, go ahead and do the opposite--if you know what you're doing to be right and good and true. Live your legacy. Do your thing. Walk in a certain light."

This book is an inspiration to anyone who is struggling through life and may be unsure how they are going to make it through the storm. Ray Lewis made it through a single mom household, losing friends and coaches, and being accused of the most terrible things. He made it through alive andd on top.

Review--Hit Count by Chris Lynch

Lloyd liked to hit hard and he taught his brother, Arlo, everything he knows.

Arlo makes the junior varsity football team his freshman year which is almost unheard of.  Since Lloyd had taught Arlo everything, Arlo is good at hitting hard.  A sophomore on the JV team, Dinos befriends Arlo and teaches him about conditioning.  Football is more than just hard hitting, you have to be able to last the whole game.  Arlo's dad was a proud papa.  Lloyd, was jealous that he didn't make is as far as Arlo had.  And Arlo's mom, was not into the game at all.  She was so fearful of head injuries that she kept "The File" that had every bit of information that had anything to do with traumatic brain injury.  None of this kept Arlo from playing and becoming "Starlo".  He excelled at the sport throughout his high school career.  He treated his body like a temple and always stayed in top physical condition.  But is all of this enough to avoid the effects of the "Hit Count"?

I love football.  My family and I watch our favorite team every Sunday, Monday, or Thursday, or whatever day they are playing during the season.  I'm not a big fan of high school football, but I have attended a few games as a student.  I have always had a fear of my child playing a sport like football where being slammed around is part of the objective.  While they have made many strides in improving the equipment used, it's hard to avoid concussions when you are constantly hit.

I liked this book more than I thought I would.  From other reviews, I thought it was going to be more oafish.  This is a good YA novel that I would recommend to high school boys.
