Audio Book Review: I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

I Let You Go

Jacob and his mother are walking home one day when he is struck and killed by a hit and run driver. The police have no idea how to find the person behind the accident and Jacob's mother can't just sit by while nothing is being done. After the accident, Jenna decides to move away from the area after this tragedy. The police are on a nearly impossible mission to find a child killer. Told from the perspective of the police and Jenna, finding the killer is of utmost importance.

I listened to this book as part of book pal read. At first the story started off slowly and I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. Then there was a twist in the story that I didn't see coming. Clare Mackintosh writes stories that leave you on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to happen next.

I can't imagine what I would do if one of my children was hit by a car. Not only that, but finding out that the person who did it didn't even stop or anything to see if everyone was alright. I don't know what I would do, probably go crazy.

It's hard to review this book without giving away too much. You just have to read it.

Review: Lies You Never Told Me

Lies You Never Told Me by Jennifer Donaldson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Published: 2018

As a teen high school has to be the hardest, yet most defining moments in your life. It's where you decide what your life is going to be like for the rest of your life. Whether you'll go to college, or find a a trade, or do absolutely nothing.

Two teens, Gabe & Elyse are trying to figure out life right now. Gabe is dating one of the most popular girls in school, although he's not too keen on the way he treats her and he's thinking about ending it. But what will that cost him in the long run? Elyse has just landed the lead for the school production of Romeo and Juliet. Always content to be a part of the background, will she be able to perform in the spotlight?

Both of these teens are trying to make it through these tumultuous high school years. But there are things that are holding them back from being their best. Will they allow these things to come to the surface, or will they boil inside of them until they can't handle it any longer?

Thank you to NetGalley & Penguin for the sneak peak of this book. I knew it wasn't going to be enough so I got the full book from the library.

The sneak peek takes you through the first 7 chapters of the book. It's so good though that you have to continue reading and find out what is going to happen next.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. With things happening to Gabe and no way for him to explain it, to Elyse falling in love for the first time and discovering a lot of firsts with an unusual partner. How are these two alike, how are they different? With a twist at the end that I didn't see coming, this is a book you are going to want to read.

Review: Let Me Lie by Clare Mackintosh

Let Me Lie by Clare Mackintosh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Published: March 2018

It is the one year anniversary of the death of Anna Johnson's mother when she receives an anonymous note that makes her question everything about her parents deaths. The previous year both her parents had taken their lives within months of each other, but did they really? When Anna goes to the police with her note, more disturbing events take place and she doesn't know what to do. Full of twists and turns you won't see coming, this book is definitely one to read.

I read this book as part of a buddy read and I loved it!! I didn't see any of the twists and turns coming.

Can you imaging grieving the deaths of your parents for a year just to find out that they might not even be dead? What would you do? Do you think anyone would believe you? I wasn't sure what was going to happen with this book and it's hard to give a concise review without giving away too many details.

I thought I knew what was going to happen in the end and who was behind all of the incidents happening in Anna's life, but I was way off. I couldn't have imagined the ending at all.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who like a thriller with unimaginable twists.

Review: Every Fifteen Minutes by Lisa Scottoline

Every Fifteen Minutes Every Fifteen Minutes by Lisa Scottoline
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dr. Eric Parrish is the chief of psychiatry at HGH. When he receives a patient consult from his friend Dr. Fortunado in the Emergency Department, he is eager to help. Dr. Parrish meets Max who he takes on as his private patient. He is determined to help Max with his OCD. When Max's grandmother dies, Dr. Parrish is worried for his safety. When a girl that Max is fond of ends up murdered, Dr. Parrish gets even more worried. Will Dr. Parrish be able to find out if Max is behind the murder or find the real killer before it is too late?

Lisa Scottoline had me on the edge of my seat again, literally, since I listened to this book on my way back and forth from work. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, a twist is thrown right at me. Twists and turns all over the place. I loved it. Lisa Scottoline is becoming one of my favorites, with her thrillers. I first read one of her books last year and quickly I have tried to read them all. This being my fourth of hers. I highly recommend her books to all who are looking for thrillers with great twists!
